Apache ups earnings on price and flows

Apache has operational fronts, state side, in Permian Basin, Anadarko Basin, and the Gulf of Mexico deepwaters.  They are currently boasting a 25% increase in Q1.  You can read a quick breakout of their Q1 report at:

In  an effort to pad its capital before starting a $500 million campaign in the UK Providence lets its assest in the Gulf of Mexico go.

Shell wins OK for new Auger wells (deep water exploration)

Shell's submission of the exploration plan has fulfilled the new environmental standards post Macondo oil spill. Shell will however still needs to obtain drilling permits for the actual exploratory wells.
